Advocacy Campaign:
Ascending to Advocacy

To earn recognition for The Advocacy Campaign, members must complete six provided activities, two in each of the three sections. The reward will be an SLC Advocacy name badge ribbon.

Create a digital folder which contains details about the six activities that you completed.

Each activity should be labeled with the section that it pertains to.  Then share it according to submission guidelines below.

Submission is due February 15.  

Submission Guidelines:  For award submission, send an email with the subject:  (Chapter Name), Advocacy Campaign.

Section 1 - Promote FCS Education and Related Technical Education

• Host at least one community event that showcases the STEM and employability skills gained in your FCS or Related Technical Education programs

• Publicize activities and accomplishments that highlight how your FCS or Related Technical Education programs integrate science, technology, design, and math.

• Share 5 Tuesday FCS social media post from PA FCCLA Facebook or Instagram

• Participate in Be a Teacher Day (October 8)  

  • Plan a day where several members can shadow a teacher and/or participate in teaching part of the lesson

  • Create a series of 3 social media posts highlighting future teachers within your chapter.  (National FCCLA does these posts on Facebook and Instagram)

  • Create teacher appreciation cards with FCCLA representation  

• Participate in FCCLA week (February 9-13) 

  • Plan an activity for each day of the week, calling attention to your FCS or Related Technical Education programs

• Participate in CTSO month (February)

  • Aim your advocacy to administrators, local businesses, policymakers, and the community including the terms CTSO, FCCLA, FCS, and CTE.

  • Create a digital folder of student achievements, competition projects, and community service hours for school board members and other policymakers.

  • Create an Advocacy Day to meet lawmakers and present chapter impact reports.

• Participate in FCS day (Feb. 11)

  • Create a social media post on reasons to become an FCS educator (Toolkit link to FCS site)

• Maintain a FCCLA Chapter Social Media

• Maintain and post chapter involvement on social media

Section 2: Recruitment

• Recruit new FCCLA members

  • Host an informational meeting for new members 

  • Create brochures, flyers, handouts, etc. to showcase your chapter and/ or FCCLA as a whole

• Publicize your FCCLA chapter on social media

• Participate in the Membership Campaign

• Host a FCCLA member party

• Bring non-members to FCCLA meetings

• Bring non-members to fun chapter activities

• Have a snack break at a chapter meeting

• Have a board game party during a chapter meeting

Section 3: Engage with your community and school leaders to showcase member impact

• Complete a community or school service project

• Attend school board meetings as a chapter representative

• Actively involve your school counselors and administrators in FCCLA activities

• Collaborate with other officers in other CTSOs within your school or community (TSA, FBLA, FFA, SkillsUSA, DECA, HOSA, BPA)

• Complete an activity in your community related to a National Program

• Promote FCCLA to your community by:

  • Hosting a food drive

  • Hosting a community dinner which includes a display about FCCLA activities and projects

  • Partnering with local law enforcement, local emergency services, local fire companies

• Host a bingo night

• Present STAR Events and National Programs to your family, community, school faculty, or your school board
