Advocacy includes
promoting Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education and Related Technical education
recruiting new members
engaging with school/community leaders to showcase member impact
Each chapter is encouraged to implement advocacy activities to broaden the knowledge of all the excellent achievements that your chapter and members earn during the year.
In order to earn recognition for your advocacy efforts, the Advocacy Campaign was created.
Members must complete six provided activities, two in each section below to earn state recognition and receive a name badge ribbon at State Leadership Conference.
Submission is due February 15.
For award submission, send an email with the subject: (Chapter Name), Advocacy Campaign.

Section 1 - Promote FCS Education and Related Technical Education
Host community events that showcases the STEM and employability skills gained in your FCS or Related Technical Education programs
Publicize activities and accomplishments that highlight how your FCS or Related Technical Education programs integrate science, technology, design, and math.
Participate in Be a Teacher Day (October). Suggestion: Plan a day where several members can shadow a teacher and participate in teaching part of the lesson
Participate in FCCLA Week (February second week) Suggestion: Plan an activity for each day of the week, calling attention to your FCS or Related Technical Education programs
Participate in CTSO Month (February)
Participate in FCS Day (February second week Wednesday)
Maintain a FCCLA Chapter Social Media
Maintain and post Chapter involvement on social media
Section 2: Recruitment
Recruit new FCCLA members
Participate in the Membership Campaign
Host a FCCLA member party
Bring non-members to FCCLA meetings
Bring non-members to fun chapter activities
Have a snack break at a chapter meeting
Have a board game party during a chapter meeting
Section 3: Engage with your community and school leaders to showcase member impact
Complete a community or school service project
Attend school board meetings as a chapter representative
Partner with local law enforcement, local emergency services, local fire companies
Promote FCCLA to your community
Host a food drive
Host a community dinner
