Use the following tips for submitting a press release.

• Follow the format of the press release exactly, typing your release double-spaced on a 8 1/2 x 11 plain white paper. Print on one side only.

• Next, call your local newspapers to find out what reporter covers education issues. Try to make an appointment to introduce yourself and FCCLA and hand deliver your press release.

• Establishing personal contact with the press early in the school year increases chances for consistent coverage during the year.

• Use the sample format in "The Guide to Promoting FCCLA."
