On
March 8, 2010 the Center for Nutrition and Activity
Promotion at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital
launched its 7th annual nrgBalance Zone Campaign
– a program that aims to make it easier for schools to
engage youth and families and build excitement for healthy
eating and physical activity.
The nrgBalance Zone Campaign acknowledges schools that
commit to improving healthy eating and physical activity
options for today’s youth. Participating schools are
publicly recognized as nrgBalance Zones and are equipped
with free programs, resources, and outreach opportunities
designed to help them implement wellness policies and
promote good nutrition and active living. Enrollment in
the nrgBalance Zone Campaign is free and open to all
Pennsylvania schools, public and private, K-12. With
an average yearly enrollment of 1,400 schools, the
nrgBalance Zone Campaign has reached more than 2,650,000
youth across the state of Pennsylvania.
