Integrating FCCLA national programs with Family and Consumer Sciences curriculum is the key to conducting successful national programs. Lesson plans are available on the FCCLA national website. Try new leadership experiences and investigate exciting topics through interactive participation in various programs. Dynamic Leadership skills are integrated in all national programs. These skills have been recognized as essentials for future success. FCCLA identifies the need for its members to have a tool that will develop leadership characteristics through individual and peer learning. “Dynamic Leadership” is about leadership development through using national programs. Career Connection is a program that guides young people to explore career pathways and skills for success in careers, families, and communities. Leaders at Work is a unit of Career Connection that motivates students to prepare for career success and recognizes FCCLA members who create projects to strengthen leadership, communication, entrepreneurial and interpersonal relation skills on the job. Leaders at Work is a component of Career Connection. Put yourself in charge of your future! Enhance your job skills and gain valuable on-site work experience. Community Service is a program that helps members turn youth concerns into leadership and action to improve local communities. Make a Difference Day - On the fourth Saturday of every October, Make a Difference Day is a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. This is an annual event that is celebrated on the fourth Saturday of every October. Everyone can accomplish many community service projects.

FACTS is a program that focuses on safe driving habits; SMART traffic attitudes; and child car seat and seatbelt safety. Put the brakes on impaired driving and traffic crashes. Through peer education, help your friends arrive alive and lower the number one cause of death for youth in America. National Traffic Youth Safety Month - Plan and conduct a FACTS project during Global Road Safety Week. Log on to www.noys.org for more information. Families First is an FCCLA national peer education program through which youth gain a better understanding of the concepts and skills necessary to strengthen family relationships. FCCLA members may apply for Japanese Exchange through this program. Japanese Exchange is part of the Families First national program. Experience another culture and develop independence while living with a Japanese host family.
Fourteen FCCLA members have the opportunity to travel to Japan next summer and stay with a Japanese host family. To apply for the Japanese Exchange Scholarship, members must be in their sophomore or junior year in high school. The scholarship application is located on the Youth For Understanding, USA’s website. You may submit the application electronically, or print and mail the completed application along with the FCCLA Application Supplement Form, postmarked by January 5, 2010.
Manage your money! Financial Fitness is a program that involves youth teaching other young people how to make, save, manage, and spend money and managing resources wisely. Check the Financial Partnerships webpages.
FCCLA Saves What is FCCLA Saves?- FCCLA Saves is a program of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America in cooperation with America Saves, both national non profit organizations committed to encouraging young Americans to save money, reduce debt and build wealth. Teach Children to Save - FCCLA chapters are encouraged to partner with one of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association member banks to help young people learn the importance of saving money. Teach Children to Save lessons may be taught anytime during the year. Visit http://www.aba.com/ABAEF/teachchildrentosave.htm for more information. FCCLA chapter members and bankers have the opportunity to give presentations to students in grades K-12 about budgeting, saving, recognizing needs and wants and how interest makes money grow. Give yourself the power to make a positive change in your families, careers, and communities, one goal at a time. This is the personal growth project of individual members. This project considers each member’s different needs, potentials and capabilities. The Power of One program is divided into five units which have no time limit. Growth in this program is completed at the local chapter level and begins by using the five-step planning process. Goals, plans and evaluations of growth will be developed with the guidance of the optional evaluation team. State recognition is given after all five units have been achieved and the local adviser submits the Power of One Form to the state office of the completed achievement. The state office forwards the information to the national office for national recognition. STOP
The Violence is a peer-to-peer outreach program that empowers youth with
attitudes, skills, and resources to recognize, report and reduce youth
violence. STOP The Violence Toolkit and CD is available for purchase from the national FCCLA Online Store. Student Body is an FCCLA national peer education program that helps young people learn to eat right, be fit, and make healthy choices. The goals are to: help young people make informed, responsible decisions about their health provide youth opportunities to teach others and develop healthy lifestyles, as well as communication and leadership skills.
